Respond To Challenges With Creativity And Fun

Creativity – the hopeful light in gloomy clouds

We are indeed living in interesting times. This pandemic is like a challenge to humanity, which might inspire creative movements for the future. Creativity is always fond of finding its voice through difficult times. Its only when the times are uncertain, do the most effective ideas and inventions strike one’s mind. It’s the need to bring about a change in our society, which puts the curious minds to work and enriches the creativity laden inside. This will ensure that we respond to challenges with creativity and fun.

What were the Challenges?

This pandemic has locked us all in the four walls of our houses, not allowed out, yet asked to continue living a normal lifestyle. The quarantine has been the most stressful for the youngsters and tiny tots. Examination dates being pushed further and the syllabus reduced, isn’t it supposed to relax the pressure? Indeed! The effect though, seems the exact opposite.

Very often the elders are found saying, now that we have more time to spend on our studies, there is no scope of mistakes, we must give our best. Instead of letting the tiny tots explore their hobbies and enrich some life skills, they are made to dive in huge piles of books. The situation even worsens when they are constantly checked upon and expected to do everything the adults wish for them to.

Being different to make challenges fun

Upon interviewing some parents, we discovered this wasn’t the only method adopted in each house. There were many positive insights as well that illustrate how to respond to challenges with creativity and fun. We took a sneak peak in the life of a working family with two kids.

No matter the pandemic, the elders had to move out for work. The children on the contrary were not made to read piles of books. Instead, they were given free time to discover their hobbies. Their studying hours were fixed, and the rest of the day, they were free to explore their creative side.

One of them keen in the field of science invented a “Magnetic Water Conditioner” and even an “Ultraviolet Sanitization Box” to make a difference to the society with his exceptional skills. Having curiosity towards computers, the other one started to learn coding and developed a SOS application, to help those in need in such uncertain times.

Challenges – a stepping stone to self discovery

We discovered that when the creative minds are given exposure to tend towards their interests and hobbies, they can do wonders and make a huge difference to the society. No one said bookish knowledge wasn’t important, yet a balance is to be maintained. When you are studying, put in all your effort, but then creativity and practical knowledge is also a crucial aspect of mental development and out of the box thinking ability, which can’t be neglected.

These trying times gave me the power to express my views upon diverse topics. In my magical garden, whenever I desire, I plant a seed of my wish. As the tree grows, so do my wishes, creativity and belief.

Solution to respond to challenges with creativity and fun

As part of our school project we did an online survey and asked students living nearby to post in something anonymously which they would like to change about their daily routine during the lockdown. The diverse opinions were overwhelming to our mind. Many students found it difficult to study online, while many wanted to inculcate some fun in their daily routine.

We wanted to help the students respond to challenges with creativity and fun. So, we came up with an idea of an after school club, for children of all ages. Not only did we try to make studies interesting for them, but also there were activities to bring out their creativity amidst pressure and frustration.

Several clubs and forums dedicated to Art, Astronomy, creative writing, reading, cooking, Mathematics and Science helped provide them a stage to showcase their interests and discover their hidden talents. It turned out to be a fun filled project. We helped the ones in need and together formulated new methods and invented various scientific devices to help the society at large in maintaining safety and social distancing.

Creativity is the biggest weapon we have during these times. Life is like an open book with its array of stories. To find the beginning and end of these stories, is all about the changes and making the best out of the current situation. Now, everything has started coming back to normal again. So, come let us also do things differently. Let’s close the chapter of competition, stress and frustration and open the page of creativity and prosperity. Let us not build perfect robots, instead let’s discover and explore. Let the young ones touch the skies with their curiosity and power to change the world. This will be be the perfect way to respond to challenges with creativity and fun not just during the pandemic, but also in the New Normal.

Trying our best, every possible way,
Full of creativity each and every day.
Times are uncertain, yet we fight,
Inventing and discovering, shining so bright.
