Industry-first Internship Model
The industry-wide internship model is flawed on both ends of the spectrum, and recognizing the problem is the first step to solving it. On the one extreme, most internships are unpaid, leading the candidates high and dry. On the other extreme, organizations offering paid internships know the value of what they are offering, and students have to meet the exacting demands of the internship, often at the cost of their academics. In both these cases, the nature of work is typically menial and not aligned to the learning objectives of the intern.
FTEM has crafted an innovative internship model that solves all these problems. We have used the principles of Design Thinking to create a unique Internship Program that offers a flexible credit system, whereby interns earn credits for each task completed in line with the expected quality standards and timelines. This allows interns the flexibility to work as much or as little, and even ramp up or ramp down the work in accordance with their academic pursuits and other responsibilities. The interns will always earn according to the value and quantity of the work that they do, making it a dream come true for one and all – whether you are driven by the need to learn or if you need to make some extra bucks!
