What is Beauty? Find the beauty within!
Beauty over aesthetic
What is beauty? Is it a matter of being beautiful to the eyes? But doesn’t that relate to being pretty, or may I say ‘aesthetic’? What is the definition of true beauty then?
Well, according to the results of a search on the definition of beauty on Google, it is “a combination of qualities such as shape, color or form that pleases the aesthetic senses.”
Now I am in complete disagreement with Google here. That is not beauty! A lot of humans can be pretty but not all are beautiful.

The Beautiful Concept of Beauty
Beauty is how a person is within. Their personality. Their cheerful and friendly disposition. Beauty is how a person perceives the world around them.
It is high time we realize that there is a huge difference between being pretty and being beautiful. If you have made another person smile in your presence, then ‘Congratulations! You are beautiful‘.
Beauty is the confidence you feel, the positivity you have. And if you are beautiful, no person or past experience can take that beauty away from you. It may be sitting in the backseat of the bus, but it is never lost.
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
Khalil Gibran
Now I am definitely not saying that all your hard work of putting on makeup and choosing a beautiful dress does not make you beautiful. Of course it does! But remember what the famous Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe said:
A smile is the best makeup any girl can wear.

Other’s opinions are not your problem
The people who may have tried to tell you that you are not “pretty” are probably insecure and driven by their own complexes. They are afraid of what you can do once you realize your potential.
So the next time someone demotivates you, give them a smile and a compliment too. Remember there is a difference between you and them. And there is a difference between being beautiful and pretty.
Living above the reality of depending on others opinion over your choice is another way of attaining self awareness and spiritual awakening.

Find the beauty within
Now I am not sure how many of you know of the epic ‘Ramayana‘. It is a known fact that Ram is worshiped as lord while Ravan died a villain. Ravan had all the knowledge of the world. He had studied all the Vedas of the Hindu religion and had a wealth of knowledge within, yet he became a villain.
A teacher once mentioned this to me, and I haven’t been able to get this out of my mind ever since. She said “Ram became our god because he had a personality. You can be all pretty and knowledgeable but you can never be beautiful if you have no respect for others.”

Beauty Standards are ever-changing
The only thing I can say is that:
Even Aphrodite – the Greek goddess of beauty, won’t fit the beauty standards of our world today.
Thank you for sparing a few minutes into reading this. I hope I was able to make you understand beauty better, from my perspective. I hope you have a nice and beautiful day!
