You could see the disappointment and sadness in the faces of those people, mostly women, who kept stepping back with every question. I have been very fortunate to have been completely financially independent all my life. My life would be so very different had it not been for two simple things: having my own bank account and continuing to have an independent source of income. Ladies, no matter how much you love and trust your other half, you do not have to surrender your identity and financial freedom to someone else. The man in your life will respect you more for it.
